Must-Sees
Hurray for Hollywood!
The entertainment capital of the world beckons. Stroll Hollywood Boulevard's Walk of Fame to find your favorite "stars". Tour the opulent TCL (formerly Grauman's) Chinese Theatre, a throw back to Hollywood's Golden Age. Visit Universal Studios and discover how the dream merchants work their magic. Oh, and check to see if there's an outdoor concert or show at the renowned Hollywood Bowl.
Santa Monica Pier
Be a part of this thrill-packed seaside scene where street performers thrive, amusements abound and three miles of soft sandy shoreline await you. (The "Baywatch" beaches!) Ride the Ferris wheel or roller coaster, play carnival games, nosh on food vendor fare, and plunge into the vibrant nightlife. In essence, have a ball!
Griffith Park & Observatory
One of the largest municipal parks in North America and LA's largest historic landmark, this 4,511-acre gem of canyons, mountains and natural chaparral offers 70 miles of hiking and equestrian trails with spectacular views, including the famed Hollywood sign. It's also home to the Griffith Observatory, the most visited of its kind in the world, whose telescopes, planetarium shows and interactive science exhibits are simply stellar!
Bars, Bites & Buys
Sunset Strip
This 1-1/2 mile stretch between Hollywood and Beverly Hills offers top-notch shopping, dining and celebrity sighting opportunities. But it's the nightclubs and music venues that put it on the map. Like the Whiskey A GoGo where The Doors took flight. Or the legendary Laugh Factory, where Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy and Jerry Seinfeld honed their skills. Catch a late-night snack at Mel's Drive-In, open 24 hours.
Rodeo Drive
Bring your shopping list, and wallet, to this priciest of LA retail streets, hosting designer stores, private boutiques and elite fashion emporiums that compete for the enormous wealth of the region. Check out the luxury cars parked by the curb, too!
